Mami Wata x Globe AFROSURF Surfskate, Collector’s Edition
Africa meets Australia.
The AFROSURF Surfskate is a collaboration between Mami Wata, the African surf brand, and Globe, the Australian board sports brand. Globe's 'Walrus' model is re-imagined with recycled rubber grip for barefoot riding from the city to the beach, and features vibrant graphics from Mami Wata's award winning AFROSURF book. It’s built on Globe’s surfskate range where the boards are designed to recreate on land the movement and flow a surfer feels in the water.
To celebrate the launch, we’ve released just 16 numbered and signed Collector’s Edition sets. All profits go to Waves for Change, a Cape Town surf therapy programme, and Ziyaad’s Skate School, a Cape Town youth skateboarding programme.
The collaboration launch campaign comprises a film profiling Mami Wata CEO Imraan Allie, a seasoned skater and surfer, and featuring surfers and skaters from Waves for Change and Ziyaad’s Skate School. The soundtrack is provided by Soweto based band BCUC, long term collaborators with Mami Wata.
